The tricky part about acne is that the problem can
actually become worse if you overmedicate. That's
because acne medication can overdry the skin, causing
a boost in your skin's Sebum (oil) production. This
results in...you guessed it - more acne.
So what's the long term solution? Find gentler
solutions or even natural acne cures that won't
shock your body into more breakouts.
Here's what I recommend...
Glycerin based facewash:
Glycerin is gentler and will balance the
pH levels in your skin.
Antibacterial Soap:
For body acne, try using an antibacterial soap
to slowly dry out the skin. If your skin gets too dry,
switch to a moisterizing soap like Dove to
counterbalance the effect.
Don't Overwash:
Wash your face only 2 times a day max and gently
pat dry with a towel.
Moisterize:
Use a gentle face moisterizer if the glycerin based
face wash drys you out too much. I like using
Aveeno moisterizers personally.
Change Your Diet:
Eat almonds, fiber, drink lots of water and avoid
excess sugar intake. Food really does make a difference.
This is because the food you put into your body has a
direct effect on your Sebum (oil) production. By eating
the right foods, you'll minimize oily skin, thereby
preventing breakouts.
Egg Whites:
If acne medication isn't working or causing new breakouts,
try applying egg whites to the pimples at night before bed.
This natural remedy works by gently drying out the clogged
pores and clearing up the pimple.
Oatmeal Masks:
One of my favorite natural skin conditioners is wearing an
"oatmeal mask". The oatmeal with smooth your skin while
simultaneously absorb toxins and oils from your pores.
Try this for a few days straight. Wear the oatmeal mask
for 10 minutes, then wash off. You'll have a nice
glowing complexion right after.
Lemon Juice:
Lemon juice also dries up pimples and kills any bacteria
in the infection. The citric acid also balances your skin's
pH levels to prevent future breakouts.
Honey:
Yes, despite your initial beliefs, honey is FANTASTIC for
skin care. Actually, you may notice on many moisterizers
that honey is an ingredient. Much like the lemon solution
above, honey balances the skins pH levels. Test out this
sticky remedy by dabbing pimples with honey and leaving it
on for 5-10 minutes. You can apply full honey masks to your
face but I prefer the oatmeal masks instead.
They're less messy.

hi there I cured acne after reading a book called No Acne for Me. I thought there were no cure or treatment but apperently I looked the wrong places. Acne free and acne cure - get this book. http://www.noacneforme.com/
From what I understand, the problem with acne is that it affects guys and girls in different ways.
According to:
http://campusacnetruth.org/html/acne_gender.html
The list of differences between male and female acne is real and long.
There is much advice on how to deal with acne and what medications work, but rarely does anyone consider the gender factor.
Has anyone else realized this?
Dan,
Yes, I have come across this information as well.
-A guy's skin is 25% thicker than a girl's skin which means that an acne treatment has to be absorbed deeper than in a female's skin to reach the follicle level.
-There are also hormonal differences...and we all understand that acne is in large part hormonal.
-Guys have more DHT which produce excess sebum and clog the pores.
Did you also know that many acne treatments today still contain parabens, which are ingredients added to prolong shelf life, and have been banned in Europe due to links to certain types of cancer??
Dan,
I've been working so hard to resolve my acne problem. Treatments just don't seem to work. They work on my sister however.
The only reason I can think of to explain this is that it's because I'm a guy and she's a girl.
Is there a gender-specific treatment that I can use??
Evidently, the dialogue about gender and acne is legitimate. I'm starting to hear quite a lot about it.
I mean, generally speaking, it almost seems like companies aim their marketing strictly at women, with all the Jessica Simpson promotions and what not.
Maybe it's because their treatments work one way on girls and another way on guys...or maybe not at all.
If anyone finds a treatment designed specifically for guys, please post back on this blog. I would love to try one out. I haven't had much success so far.
Criss,
Parabebs have been linked to breast cancer tumors as well as reduced sperm count. Check out this site: https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=31361051&postID=2544416573403232696. It's pretty scary to think that the stuff I'm using on my face can make me sterile.
Acne is mainly due to the effects of hormones on the pilosebaceous unit that consists of a hair follicle, sebaceous gland and a hair. The follicle becomes obstructed and an overgrowth of normal skin bacteria, Propionibacterium acnes, causes destruction of the lining of the follicle. This process allows follicular material to enter the dermis, causing an inflammatory response.

Good news Joe,
My buddy just told me about a brand new acne treatment. I haven't seen anything else similar to it. There's finally a gender-specific acne treatment and it's called CTRL.
I checked out the website at http://ctrlacne.com/index.html and learned some interesting things about it.
For instance, it uses something called all natural 5α Phyto-Technology™ specific to each gender, to reduce oil production - the root cause of acne .
Also, it doesn't contain a single harmful paraben or any other harmful ingredients.
Also, it's only 2 steps so we won't have to waste our time with 3 or 4 step treatments in the mornings.
There are so many good acne products available in the market for curing the acne marks and skin allergies. Adolescents as well as adults can get the prescription from the expert doctors and the therapists of the clinics.
